As a young girl, my sisters and I wore our Polish Krakowski costumes to dance and religious events. It's just what we did. For us it felt like 'dress up' but my mom and Babcia (Grandmother) were solid in their traditions and I now see how important that was to be handed down to us girls. I remember the floral wreaths in our hair, the satin ribbons on the tambourine and the silk thread embroidered flowers on our blouses and black velvet vests. The sequence and beads were shiny and bright and adorned carefully onto our garments with such meticulous care.

This delicate yet customary European folklore style of embroidery dates as far back as the early 1900's. My Babcia had a genuine fondness for this needlework and she lovingly taught her daughters the same. We are blessed to own such heirlooms that date as far back as 1920. They are gorgeous and museum worthy!

I'm happy to have asked mom back in the day to embroider onto tee's and tanks as I get to wear these treasures regularly.
